The premiere of The Walking Shadows - a new work for soloists, chorus and orchestra. Eddie - our hero - breaks under the pressure of war in the trenches. Seen through the eyes of various participants - Sister Magdalen, a nurse, Crozier, the conflicted old soldier and Milly, the suffragette who against her first instincts falls for Eddie - the narrative depicts four people in a landscape of war punctuated by choruses that comment and question. With a libretto by poet Aoife Mannix, each story is vividly portrayed in a passionate portrayal of an all-consuming conflict.
